It has become apparent that other background organizations (aka CRAs – Consumer Reporting Agencies) are facing difficulties due to the compliance and financial factors involved in offering credit reports. The EEOC provides guidelines and direction to employers. We are anticipating further information from the EEOC today; however, guidance on the use of credit reports for employment screening purposes is not on the EEOC’s agenda this week. EEOC guidelines are for employers and the EEOC does not govern CRAs, the Federal Trade Commission does.
